Hey Tom: ENGINE REMOVAL

In preparation for your short block/ assembled long block I am working on tearing things down. Im considering removing the A/C system (never use it - adds drag) and I have a question. Where the lines go into the consenser, there are two mounting tabs with 10mm bolts leading to the condenser on the pass side; if I remove those lines, am I going to get blasted with R134A? If so, will it just mist into the atmosphere or anything? Is this a bad idea?

Should I just wait, assemble the motor, then use a machine to recover the refrigerant?

I can't wait to get your engine and get my car rolling again! Its been 12 hours and I miss driving it already...smokey or not...

Yes the AC system even not running is under high Psi so be carefull , It wont hurt anything to take it all loose but do it slow and again be carefull

Maybe since I'm doing everything else right, I might as well do this right and recover the refrigerant via a machine. We do AC services at work, so i could suck it all out. I just thought It'd be nice to do while its torn apart.

Do you have any reccomendations for me while my car is torn apart and waiting on your engine?

Sure did, thats gonna be the utlra-awesome tow vehicle we're taking to Toms sometime in November! (date depending on engine completion/ 500 mile break in/ Toms availability)

Its bad ass too....3rd row, Eddie Bauer, V8, tow pkg., THE WORKS!

I'm gonna try and get a TV in that thing before we make our trip...

I have an LCD/ps2 that you may be interested in. comes with a LCD screen(5.5") that can attach to the head liner, 150watt inverter, and a PS2, and all the cables needed to hooks it up. Let me know if you are interested.
Looks like I might be getting a crown vic soon, since my grandmother is going to have to stop driving
