It is illegal to remove the cat from your car and still drive it on the road (federal law).

I know it's illegal to have a road car without any cats, but since I have a D32E, if I recall correctly, I can remove the second one after the header and be ok. I think the rule is, you gotta have atleast 1, or in the way of the Focus atleast. Please correct me if I'm worng.

federal law does not allow you to tamper with any emissions equipment.

Now that makes me wonder. So everyone on this site with a Duratec and a flex-back exaust is breaking federal law? Even though the y still have a cat?

I wanted to know this too - I've been trying to find out if anyone with a MBRP exhaust, which deletes the 2nd cat if fully installed, has gone thru a normal (not backwoods) inspection in Texas. Anyone been-there-done-that?
