Depending on the Sunday... I would be down. And I fixed mine without the use of solder.

Unbolted it from the car
Then unscrewed the back cover.
Then I had just enough space to get a small flathead in there.
I ziptied a small piece of fine sandpaper on the tip.
Cleaned the contacts.

Then just put some rtv around the edge and screwed the back cover on.

This will only work if it's not actually broken on the inside. There is a plastic wheel that tends to break.

yea i read about that in the threads. is there any way to check if the wheel rather than the contacts is whats causing the thing to be stuck open?

well, you can shake the module.. but you will always hear some rattle, due to the gears for the motor...

other than that, i don't know, other than opening it up and looking.

yeah its really easy to open up..
and you can get a small thing of RTV at autozone/pepboys/oreilly's/etc really cheap.. maybe 3 bucks... just to keep the moisture out

just unscrew it and then maybe use a flathead to pry it open cuz of the rtv.
