Newbie Focus Fanatic

Just joined the board today (DFW area). I bought a great 2002 ZTS with 80k miles from my father n law for 1k. Great car and i love to drive it. The exterior, interior, wheels and tires are fine. I am interested in doing some modifications under the hood. Not looking to go "fast & furious" and dump 5k on a turbo kit just yet. But what is a good starting point to increase performance and have some fun??

thanks

Intake an exhaust....no lie lol. And Welcome!

Just start off with a simple intake, you can find a cheap one Ebay. Just throw on a reputable air filter on there and now you have an intake just performs the same as the the expensive ones, for cheap.

Next are some lowering springs. They'll bring the car down, make it look good and improve handling.

The rest is up to you.

Welcome to the Texas crowd.

And yea, it does depend on what you want to do. If you are looking for more driveability, I would look into a Tune, Larger TB (Throttle Body) They make a 65mm for the Zetecs, SVT header (if you can find one, check the For Sale area of the forum), ORP, Short Throw Shifter and some good suspension.

Now understand, the Zetec Engine focuses, didn't really add much to bolt ons. You will probably get up close to 130-145HP at most depending on how your engine is and reacts to each mod.

But the suggestions are really to help with better driveability.

Again,

Ray

Welcome man, my opinion would to go with lowering it first, get some springs, really changes the look of the car. A good intake and an axle back exhaust would be a very nice start.

If you're looking for a set of stock SVT struts and shocks, I've got a set I'd be willing to sell cheap. They have ~75k miles on them. It would liven up your ride a bit.

Oh and yeah, I'm another DFW'er. I'm usually north of 635. Welcome to the board.
