I'll give a heads up Friday if I have all the parts, if someone could confirm an alternator part number for me I would really appreciate it!

Alrighty, well, I'm pulling my hair out at this point. Do I just buy cables... or should I buy an alternator too? The people in the other thread want me to use a multimeter to test different connections for the cables... I don't even have a meter to do that with... nor can I really get to the places they want me to check with the meter by myself.

._.

It's up to you, I say cables, but you can check the alternator before that to make sure. You just have to test it at the alt. it's self not the battery. If you had a little multimeter you can test it that way. ALso autozone and other auto parts stores can test the alternator off the car, or should be able to. When ever we get it done we could take the alternator off the car run to the store have em test it and see. If it's bad then get another one if not then throw it back on and replace the cables. I'd probably replace the cables ether way. Only way to know for sure is to physically look and inspect them.

By the way, Paradisio, if you don't mind ... we can go to your home and do the whole meet and install. Less driving in an unreliable ride at the moment.

That would be much preferable, thank you Ray. It's pretty much undrivable.

I just... am in a bad spot with this. Especially since we're doing this on a holiday when the auto parts store won't be open >_< So if it isn't the cables and I don't buy the alternator, then the car still won't work. Of course if I do buy the alternator and it's not, I don't know if i'll be able to return it... never returned an autopart before and we can't get the old one tested that day either.

So looks like I have to buy both either way and hope the problem is the alternator ironically.

If you didn't install the part I don't see why they wouldn't take it back. Best thing to do would be to call them and ask about there return policy.

^^ This ^^

They will take it as long as you don't install it. And even if you put it in ... you at least have piece of mind that it has a long warranty and you have a new part in the car.

Alrighty well I got the parts, battery cables are a bit... questionable if I got the right ones, but turns out the local store will be open anyways. So I think we're good to go
