Houston window tint

Hey guys I just bought my first Focus (05 ZX4 ST) and I love it already! Only problem is the windows aren't tinted, and as we all know, H-town weather is pretty unforgiving. Any thoughts on a good tint shop?

Welcome to focusfanatics. If you got the money, then i would check out http://www.xmhouston.com/. I went there and paid around 150 maybe 180 to get my windows done, 25 in the front and 5% in the back with lifetime warranty and the tint wont fade. Theres plenty of places around that do tint but u gotta find the right kind cause some will fade and bubble. Check out that site and give them a call. Well should be having a meet sometime soon so stick around this part of the site so u can come hang with us.

Awesome, I've actually heard good things about them. Did you go with a ceramic tint, or straight film? I've never gotten aftermarket tinting done, so I'm interested in hearing what others think. I'd rather pay a little extra for quality work. As far as a meet, I'd be down. I'd love to pick some brains on these cars...this one is stock, but it's got some serious potential!!!

Welcome to the Houston FF Crew.

I don't know of any good tint places in Houston ... but I am sure someone will chime in a place for ya.

Hope you make it out to one of our meets ... Lots of great people in our crew.

I don't remember which tint I got but I love it. The last tint I had on my car faded real bad. This tint is good and doesn't let that much heat in which is what they show you when u go there, they show u a lil demonstration.

First welcome to the H-town crew. I got tint about 3 months. Ago from Executive tint off the I-10 area near the dodge dealership. I got 35% on the front and 5% on the back, WARNING! Tint law has changed recently, on the front the tint has to be 30% (or 25% I forget) at most with film and the windows natural ability to block light. I have the 35% on the front but failed inspection due to the amount of light let through the window. Keep that in mind when looking at tint, mine cost around $185 and got the heat blocking tint with a lifetime warranty. My boss had the same thing from them and after 5 years faded a little and had a couple bubbles in the back but the warranty covered everything for free.

U confused me Justin. If they tint law is 25 on the front or even 30 on the front, u can have 35 and pass. Now if its 25 and u put 20 or lower like 5 then u would fail.

Also depends where you go.

My mother in law ... mind you ... doesn't keep up with cars.

She has the FACTORY tint on her jeep and they didn't pass her at the local mechanic place by the galleria. But we then took it somewhere else in the city and they passed her.

It's iffy ... I pass with my 25% of tint.

Whatever the law is if its 25% or 30% the combination of tint and the window's natural ability to block light are combined to get the overall tint of the window

Exp, 35% window tint with a window that has 80% natural will effectivly make the overall light blocking seem higher than the tint by itself.

It's odd but that's what it is. If the window blocks a little and the tint blocks a lot then it might be enough to push into the realm of illigal. That and it depends where u go, some places care less about it than others.
