From Your MPG, I'm guessing You were driving a bit quicker on the way back? I bought My ST in(or near) Atlanta and drove it back in 17 hours, but I stopped a LOT, and much like You I met up with a fellow FF on the way.
well 2day i was just going to walmart to get some windshield washer fluid and as soon as i pulled into the stores parking lot my car jerked to a stop...... so i shut everything down walked around the car and noticed my drivers wheel was straight but when i went to the other side oh hey that doesnt look right it was turned as hard as can be to the right so anyway long story short my driveshaft snapped out ball joint broke in half stabilizer bar doesnt exist and possible transmission damage just maybe and i didnt hit anything to make this happen and then i looked and saw i was blocking traffic woohoo good dayyyyy!!! ugh im sad
my mechanic said he might be able to put the drive shaft and cv stuff back together easily those didnt look to bad but its seriously messed up then ill have to buy a new axle
Wow that sucks, it also makes that popping noise I started hearing on my car not so bad. But I just replaced my front links and the noise went away. Still leaking oil though. Also just because the the wheel is all cocked eye doesn't mean it's unfixable. Most likely you had a lower ball joint failure. Be happy it didn't happen at speed. Now that would have been some excitement. It will take some parts to fix. You list might include inner & outer tie rods, lower control arm, sway bar link (maybe new sway bar depending on how bad), CV axle, and some band aids. At least if you have to buy a whole new control arm it comes with bushings and a new ball joint.
Now though I am thinking am I one hard turn away from a ball joint failure myself?

well surprisingly my car is done and the only thing my mechanic did was put the cv axle back in and the only thing i had to replace was the balljoint which broke clean in half and my stabilzer bar which went somewhere haha but the beast is bak woohoo[hihi]
i really want to get some enkei big end barrels when some surface in the future, they are rare japanese wheels.
15x8 +5 front
15x8 -15 rear
and they are concave sexiness

Now on to my car troubles. My car completely died on me leaving the parking lot at work, popped the hood wiggle the power wires got it going again. Only to have it loose power (all electrical power so everything including the engine shut off) in the middle of the highway with no way to signal my way over to the shoulder and, not to mention I have NO brake lights ether. I had to very slowly cut this huge truck off. I figured he'll get the picture once I'm half way in his lane lol. I pulled over called my wife and next thing I know I have a tow truck behind. I let my wife go and quickly popped the hood wiggle wires again and took off like a bat out of hell. I broke EVERY speed limit on the way home. I didn't want to get stranded or stuck in a place I can't pull over like what almost happened. I know whats wrong it so I'm pretty sure it's a easy fix. It's also not everyday I get the little gear looking symbol with the ! in the middle to come on lol. Only thing is I wish I could go to sleep but instead I have to work on my car.
damn that sucks dude. thankfully u didnt get shafted by a tow truck driver, i mean have you seen their rates for a short drive home?
also i had the "wiggle the wire" problem numerous times and it turns out i needed to replace a ground wire (already did with a thicker gauge, no problems there) and i needed a new + terminal. after that, i needed a new battery because the old one was giving up like a old man on life support. after replacing those, im problem-free.....in the electrical department. still so many OTHER problems to address

pssh yea rates for tow trucks r stupid i had to pay 100 bucks to get taken just acouple miles and yes im super happy to get my car back but i need a alignment now o well yay fords haha[woot]
my friend saw an LEGIT FOCUS RS in the bayarea@webster. he saw it at an intersection somewhere off of i-45
*edit* nevermind, he saw a zx3 focus with RS bodyparts. after asking him what color it was he said it was an mattle grey/like flat.....sort of like the rs500. hmmmm
Well I replaced the batt terminal, and I replaced all the wires except the ones that run through the wiring harness a long time ago. Now my alternator is charging at slightly above 14v when it used to be at 14.7-15.2 (which is weird cause that's what my A/F gauge reads majority of the time). So I'm thinking ether I'm about to have some slt problems again, or due to the terminals being replaced it's got less resistance so it's charging just not has much as a load as it used to be? It still runs fantastic, though when I start it up there is a slight hesitation then runs normal. It only happens when I start it and last only a a split sec. Basicly it starts differently than it used to.
On a bright note got my new fog lights in! 15bucks shipped! Gotta love Rockauto!
On a dark note my oil leak is still leaking. I got to figure where it's coming from. I'm thinking the upper oil pan gasket, but I'm not for sure. It's leaking onto the CV shaft which then spins flinging it everywhere making it hard to figure out where it's coming from. It's not that bad but it leaks into the flex pipe which gets hot which can cause a fire. Oh and not to mention the smoke I see and smell.
Also it's been ruff at work. Ya I know I watch people sleep but, I have to deal with some REALLY unhealthy people sometimes and it just wears me out. End mini-rant.
saw the red focus ST with white racing stripes again, the mexican/euro version ST. he was heading toward san antonio on highway 90. in may i saw him heading toward del rio on highway 90.
Well guys I finally can BASS again. I got a 15" mtx sub and all I need is an amp so I can rattle my trunk loose lol. If anyone has a 2 channel amp between 500 and 1000 watts for sale or lease let me know. I'm also selling my sunvisor screens hopefully tomorrow. And I might be going to san antonio this weekend again with my girl. Posted via FF Mobile
