mechanic won't fix my SVTF, any ideas?

To all of y'all in DFW area:
Anyone you trust to work on your car? (besides you)
My mechanic declined to fix mine today.

Took it in yesterday with this terrible sound. They diagnosed it pretty close.
Then I went to the performance forum last night and it matches this problem
SVT Noise
IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) and DSI (Dual-Stage Intake) hardware

Today he declined to repair it. Won't unplug it, says the motor's shot already anyway.
He's a really good guy, smart and ethical.
I think he had time to look into it and has SVTF prejudice.
Afraid there's yet another problem under this one, and the next one, and the blah, blah.
Afraid of his liability if I have a wreck and something's unplugged.
We are both old people; guess it's good one of us is cautious.

I need someone who CAN work on SVTF, not a dealershitp, in the Fort Worth-Dallas area.
Any recommendations? Including yourself, if a quality DIY type.
Let's talk. Thx, Claudia

If it's truly the IMRC, it's a really simple repair. Take it to another mechanic, screw the dude who turned you down - he's obviously not capable of a little research, and you don't want him working on your car! You can either explain how simple it is to another mechanic, or, just do it yourself.

I'm not one to work on a lot of mechanical stuff on my SVTF, but even this repair was really simple and straightforward.

And don't sweat the dealership - yeah, they're a little more expensive. But, they're dealing with a relatively specialized car/engine/transmission. It's worth the extra cash to have someone who's familiar with the SVT stuff, instead of some do-it-all mechanic.

PS - Order the aluminum DSI clip, and replace the plastic one. It breaks, and eventually causes the problem you're having....

I'm going to move this to the Southern Fanatics Forum. I met some of the Texas guys at FF and I'm sure this will be a good reason for them to have a meet and figure out how to help you.
