Long time reader, first time poster

Yes the registration date is correct, I registered here nearly 2 years ago and have just now started posting

I've pretty much convinced myself that I want to trade my 2005 Ranger for a 2003-2003 (preferably 2004) SVT Focus. There are a couple things that are keeping me from being totally on board with the idea however.

1) Insurance
2) Reliability
3) Value vs my truck

The first one, I'll have to talk to my agent when I go home in a couple weeks.

Number 2, I've been reading the forums and am confident any focus, if taken care of, will take good care of me.

Third, I'm in a bit of a situation with my truck. I own it outright, but due to the nature of liquid assets (low) I will most likely need to attempt a trade with a dealer. Is there any chance of a dealer accepting my truck (17k miles) as a straight trade for an SVT? If I could go in with the truck and walk out with the SVTf, I would just ask where to sign.

Lastly, Whooop! to any and all fellow Ags out there

you might be able to get a clean trade since your truck is an 05 maybe for a 03 svtf. depends on the dealer. im pretty sure they would like a new vehicle over an older. Insurance might be a little bit higher since its car. your gonna love the focus feels comparison to a ranger.

phoenix? texas? im guessing phoenix, san antonio, tx. right?

Trade in value on my truck is listed at somewhere between 11,500 and 13,000, so I'm hoping to find something under 35k miles to trade it for.

I get that a lot, actually my first car was a firebird and I've used variations of this name ever since.

i'd try and get the ZX5 SVT. that would help you with the insurance rates since it would be considered less sporty and more like a sedan. you could always get an ST as well.

Class of 20-someday

I'm a Junior in the post-bach teaching program, I'll probably graduate in '09 if I don't go for my master's immediately.

I forgot I checked insurance a couple years ago, and my agent pulled up the SVT focus as a standard 3 or 5 door focus. Assuming things haven't changed, that's one more stumbling block out of the way.

i'm class of '02. the post-bach teaching program was something i was thinking of doing, but i decided to head home to help my parents out. i've been teaching for 2 years and it's awesome. just found out yesterday that i got another raise. good luck with finding your SVT focus.

Your right ... that was the kicker for the time I purchased my SVT. The rates are low for a sporty car. Lower than most of them. I believe the SVT focus and the Honda Civic were the two lowest cars for something Gas friendly and sporty.

Also Good Luck with you decision.
