Exclamation cops and tail lights

Any one in California know the legality of tinting the tail lights?

um, I'm not really sure of what the law says, but it's something along the lines of the tail lights not being so dark that the red light is too dim are not visible to drivers behind you...As long as you don't tint them so much where the light barely gets through I'd think you'd be alright...idk, check the DMV site, all the info can be found there...

Rear Brake lights need to be visible up to 500 feet. This is for Iowa and Illinios. I think it is a standard universal DOT requirement!

yeah you're right, it's pretty much a universal state law...I got this off the DMV site:

"(e) Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible from all distances within 500 feet to the rear..."

So I guess, tinting is ok as long as your still visible 500' away...
