Neutral Problems - Not stalled, but shut off(!)
I have a question that is bugging me.
I rented a 2012 Ford Focus (6 speed manual transmission, diesel fuel) at Charles de Gaulle last week. I was 400kms away before discovering the problem.
The car was great except that when I put the transmission in neutral (not in any gear) and took my foot off the clutch, the engine would usually turn off (not stall, but turn off(!)). Once I put my foot back on the clutch, the engine would re-start. The instrument panel would also light up with a red 'A', too
This problem would occur most times - but some other times the engine would continue to run while in neutral.
This was obviously disconcerting, especially when at a red light. But was especially bothersome since I had to keep the clutch engaged
Any ideas?? Thanks
