Looking for local mechanic

Anyone who lives in AL feel free to chime in. Just wanted to get an idea of which shops people are using (no dealerships) for things that are a little above our heads.

Preferably smaller shops that know about the Focus, unlike places like Jiffy and Firestone...

A tranny rebuild is something im needing. Beefing up the valves I believe, I may be wrong on that, and tq conv. Just dont want to put out the $ for a Lentech, and want to stay auto. A new motor/rebuild will be within the next year also. Looking at either building the existing motor up with something like a CFM stage 2 block and some cams/bolt ons. N/A, I dont think I want to go turbo, as fun as it sounds. Or possibly an SVT swap. I dont trush myself with much more that simple stuff like plug wires and alternators, changing the oil and simple bolt ons! I can follow instructions very well and am capable, but I would shoot myself if I messed up on something like a new motor.

BTW i've been spraying for the past 2 years or a little over on this motor so its def has its share of beating on. Everything from a 20 shot to 100. For a while it was done without any kind of tune. My tranny shifts rough now as a result, and I was told to not change the fluid in it since ive done it in the past 50K but im not sure how much I believe that... They said once it starts acting up its better to leave it alone.
