Any one done an engine swap?

I am trying to get more power and go faster like a lot of us on here. I have come across a couple things like putting a big 4 cylinder in, but what about a short block of a v6 ford ranger engine in. I have a 2005 ford focus zx5 ses. Please comment or move to where this should be posted. Thanks

Easiest for you would be the duratec 2.5 from a fusion or a 2.3 duratec from a focus. Anything other than that is going to require extensive fabrication, probably including the wiring. I know people have stuffed a contour engine in there but I think the 2.5 duratec from the fusion puts out more power than that and has a higher ceiling cap.

This section and the other duratec section for older versions have the most info. on various combinations of 4 cyl. components.

For the V6 swap the engine and trans swap section has the most info., only a VERY few have been completed (like a couple) with more attempts made and abandoned.

For serious power the Forced Induction section is your answer, not cheap but a LOT more power avail. that way.

(Edit - ended up in the Engine Swap section from '08-'11 duratec)

"Forced Induction Section" of the Forum covers info. on Supercharging/Turbocharging and even Nitrous systems slip in to that area.

Turbos are the most common answer to fit your engine type, though we've got one regular using Nitrous successfully for Drag Strip use with a similar engine.

Prob. close to $4k to get set up with a Turbo currently. Complete kits from 3.5k to 4k from FSWerks for reference as a starter to your search.

If I'm looking at 4k I'll probably ably just throw in the short block for now since I have Hella miles already a crate engine would probably do me some good

Sounds like a plan that will work, spend time looking around at the options so you can plan longer term & not waste $ building for a different purpose. (like N/A vs. forced induction)
