ATX swap for svt MTX

these last few months i have been thinking big about my plans for my zts sedan (atx)
one of my better ideas have been swapping my ATX for an svt 6speed i just wanted to know a few things:

1 where can i find one?
2 how much it would cost in parts/instilation?
3 would it be worth it if i plan on extensive engine mods (turbo, manifolds, pistons, intercooler)
4 what kind of place can i go to get this done
5 whould it even work?

you can put one in, but the svt transmission is geared for road race and autox, not drag racing. if that's what your going for, then by all means, but if you're looking for the straight line, go with the mtx75 out of the regular focus.

It won't work. Im told that in order to install that transmission on another Focus you'd have to buy the engine and the ECU. That transmission will not fit in your ZETEC motor. I recommenf buying an MTX75 or checking out the LENTECH or PERFORMANCE AUTOMATICS websites. They have good options to build up ATX trannys.

the 6 speed is a gertrag which to my knowledge there is none hooked up the a zetec aside from the SVT zetec which isn't a good thing.

it is WAY better to just build up the ATX or trade in for a MTX...the amount of work and time and money to swap it out and put in a MTX is just not worth it unless you have the money and the time to do it. But if you had the money itd be easier to just get a Lentech built ATX

Really just trade the car in for an MTX if you have not done anything to it, then you wont have to spend that much money on the ATX to MTX switch.

I'll echo what has already been said, but not only can you not put the getrag tranny in your car, you wouldn't want to. The mtx75 is a much more solid and less problematic.

ok, lets throw out the myth that the getrag won't hook up to the standard zetec...

the blocks are the SAME. the bellhousing bolt patterns are the SAME. the getrag from the SVT WILL mate up to the standard zetec motor, you just have to make sure you use svt specific halfshafts, use the svt flywheel/clutch (or aftermarket replacement for svt parts). as far as the computer goes, you'll probably have to get a PCM from a MTX, or get your PCM reflashed.

just because no one is known to have done the swap, doesn't mean it won't work. most people who build up their focuses are going for straight line performance, so the MTX75 is a better choice. it's geared for acceleration. and don't say that the getrag is a problematic transmission...it's not, just the crappy flywheel and clutch ford installed from the factory. the trans itself is a good piece - just not meant for drag racing
