v6 swap guide???

I have an entire 98 contour svt smashed in the rear, im looking to put it all into my 2000 focus base model, both cars are five speed. Any help would be appreciated... I know its rarely done but Im pretty sure between the parts car and donor car I should have plenty of parts to pull this outta my hat. I know the duratec 2.5 has to go in through the bottom, there's a funky drive axle combo, but the only things I can't find definate answers on are motor mounts, fuel system, exhaust, shift linkage, electrical I.e. which engine harness and pcm? Any lit I've found on the subject is very vague. So any knowledge at this point is appreciated.

I know nothing about this engine swap, but I must say it sounds very badass. Good luck man!

Welcome to the forum

This was the first motor considered for the SVT focus but ford didn't do it do to packaging problems due to the tight fit. That and ST170 was already around soo.. They made a couple of prototypes though. If you have the whole contour then I would use everything off of it you can, that includes the engine harness and stuff. The main thing is fabbing up motor mounts and a few other things that I can't remember right now, sorry.

There isn't much info on this due to it not being done hardly at all. Off the top of my head I can only think of two, and one wasn't even completed. Also while you have the motor out of the contour you may want to think about swapping out to 3.0 lower end. It's a very popular swap among the Contour guys and can easily net a 200whp and 200 wtq

Who ever mod's this section can you please move this thread to the engine swap chat area

Cool v6. swap (cont)

Well im Gonna start measuring it up next weekend, ill def be posting it in the right part of the forum as not to offend other forum vets. Im gonna make a comprehensive swapping guide with parts list from both cars, measurements, etc. Thanks to those for replying to my thread and wishme luck. My buddy actually did the 2.5 heads on the 3.0 block, but there was some shadyness with an oil port and a self tapping sheet metal screw, and the end of the crankshaft needed to be modded for 5spd app. He's still bombin it around at 210whp. Pretty amazing.

I think the only motor mount that needs to be fabbed is the passenger side. The tranny side should still use the factory focus mounts since it is a MTX75 and that's what was used in the contours.

Here is the link to the member that started the swap but never finished, this should help you get started. He got it installed but never ran right due to using Megasquirt for engine control. Since you have a whole donor car I would use everything from that instead of a stand alone. Here is one completed and is basicly my dream car since I would love to do the swap also but that is a pipe dream for me, and there's nothing in my pipe lol

Well this comming weekend should be the end all be all. Every angle covered and all adaptations finalized. Im gonna write it up nice for anyone else who's been dying to try it. I think its an awesome swap and it gets overlooked. Originally I was gonna just dump an svt 2.0 in,cuz my heart will always beat 4cyl, lol but the 6cyl got dropped in my lap and I just can't resist.

So you have it all figured out in 1 day?
Doubtful. Once you get you hands dirty you'll find that it's much more work than it's worth. And all you really get is a line you can use, 'it's got a V6 in it'.
... and now it's front heavy, pushes like a through corners, still can't beat the DSM next to you at the light and have very limited mechanical upgrades available.
Kinda get the idea why it isn't a popular swap?
