TRANNY SWAP/TRADE, long thread help!

Im 19 years old,
own a 2004 ford focus zx5 red 2.3L automatic transmission with 84,000 miles.
2nd owner

i WANT a manual car, decide I like the focus still and would not mind having a tranny swap done, however i heard that any normal focus' transmission is sort of boring and i honestly just want to make this car into a performance car.

i thought, what if i could do not only a auto to manual tranny swap, but with a 2004 ford focus svt tranny, which is 6 speed and made to handle performance?

i know that swaps are confusing, never done one however i have messed with cars before (not a mechanic, more like putting aftermarket upgrades such as headlamps, springs, etc)

I understand that swaps are also expensive, however me selling this focus and finding a svt in as good condition as id like is not as likely to occur.

money is not the issue, i have babied this car and would prefer to stick with this car but want it to be manual.

Main reason why i want to have a manual 2004 ford focus zx5 2.3L is because i want to add forced induction, turbo !

i considered having an svt, however i rather have a 2.3L for bigger engine
(i think the svt's engine is more powerful than the 2.3, however a turbo 2.3 would be safer? im not sure, correct me if im wrong)

IF YOU THINK THIS IDEA IS DUMB, please dont go being a smart ass, im just curious and where i live by there arent much people who mess with focus'.

if this is a bad idea, is there anybody who would want to trade a 2003+ ford focus svt/2004 ford focus zx5 2.3L MANUAL for a 2004 ford focus red 2.3L 84,000 miles?
i will supply pictures if post gets attention.

thank you

No you cant use the gertrag 6speed trans from an svt on a duratec. Plus it is harder to source replacement parts for. You could swap in an Mtx-75 which is the regular manual trans you get. It is actually fun to drive. If you want it to have more performance you could change the final drive. The swap isn't simple though. You need to have your computer reflashed or swapped with one from a manual. The trans has to be from another duratec car.

The 2.3L is a Duratec PZEV motor. I am moving this to Engine & Transmission Swap to better help you.

if you have a 2.3 pzev it is a duratec if it says zetec on the valve cover then it is a 2.0.

here is a thread for the swap. A pretty good one at that. I would stick to the mtx-75. I have hear that is a good transmission.

yeah, I was thinking about doing a full spi/auto to a Zetec/mtx-75. My nice focus just recently dropped a #4 valve seat(talk about feeling burned).

And even though I could get this done very nicely(used to be auto technician), it is still a LOT of work and more money into a car that I am not entirely sure of my commitment to at this point. I am thinking of just selling the car and buying a nice zx3 or SVT.
