Engine swap but don't want to change the tranny

I'm probably getting a 2002 focus zx3 this weekend. I've got an old 302 from my mustang that I wrecked last year, and I was thinking about maybe dropping the 302 into the focus. The tranny on the 302 is a automatic and the focus tranny is a 5 speed and I wanna keep the 5 speed. I literally have everything on the mustang still, and I've had offers on the body but not the engine, so I figure take the engine out, use it and sell the body. What will I need to do the swap, if I decide to do it? Also I have access to a shop with professionals as well as my own tools, so that should help.

Your going to have to buy a kit to convert your car to rear wheel drive and get a rear wheel drive transmission, you cant just drop the motor in as far as i know

If you are thinking v8 with the stock fwd trans there is no way for that to be possible with the space you have in the focus. RWD and buying a used mustang tras is your only option. Beyond that you will have to modify the car very extensively.

for example:
Turbo LSX Focus

you would probably have to completely rebuild the front end, gut it make a tube frame, only thing that would be stock is the fenders, and then you may have to lower the whole trans and engine so that you can fit it under the hood, if you really want to do it i would suggest take the fender off and cut off the front end and rebuild it around the engine.

if you want a v8 fwd you are better off trying the Taurus sho v8 it is much smaller even still that would be a tight fit.

also the transmission would not be able to handle the torque of the v8 in the long run

good luck
