Sohc to dohc swap and ecu issues

Well I'm gathering parts for sohc to Dohc engine swap and now I have
Questions for any one thanks in advance.

1 Purchased a 2.0 zetec engine from central parts they sent me one manufactured in 2000 with the ecu and it's a manual transmission engine.

2. Now my current car is a 2003 ford focus with the dreaded sohc motor it's also a manual tranny car.

3 Now will that ecu work with a 2003-04 engine harness ? I prefer to use an 03-04 harness how can I make this work?

4. What else do I need to do to make this engine look and think it's a stock 03-04 manual transmission engine.

well... as far as we have been able to figure out, 2002 and newer harnesses are different and it makes it a pain to swap.you can check behind the glove box. if you see a module with 5 smaller connectors within a yellow bracket, you have the newer harness.

Unless you have the key transponder to match the ecu it will need to be reprogrammed by a dealer. expect around $100.

I believe someone has made the ib5 transmission fit but I'm not positive. The mtx75 found with the DOHC Zetec may be needed. if so, the axles are different along with the shift cables and maybe the shifter assembly. its been awhile, never done it but knew a lot about it.

you do have the more desirable engine though (smooth seam intake I think?) just find a different ecu.

edit: sorry one thing I forgot... you will need the zetec harness. find one from 2002.5 or newer unless you want to have random electrical faults. it goes through the engine bay at the passenger side behind the fenderwell liner.... It also runs back to the fuel tank.

2000 is a hit and miss as to whether it will work. I have done it before with 02-04 models, and with some of the real early 2000 ecu's the check fuel cap light comes on and stays on. Later 00 ecu's don't have that happen. I don't have a clue as to why.

Thanks for the info I filed a formal complain to central parts they gave me the impression I was purchasing a 2004 zetec engine and they sent me the 2000. So let's see what they can do to remedy the situation. Like a newer ecu and wiring I hope! Is there anything I can do to keep to keep this engine stock to the 2003 or 2004 engine model ? It Keeps confusion away when purchasing replacement parts. Oh the Car does have the 5 yellow plugs in the ecu area.
