Question escort to focus engine swap

I have a blown engine in a 2002 focus, found an escort with a good one, will it fit? Both have letter "P" in the serial number. Or is it possible to just change the head?

P is the SPI motor, Single OverHead Cam [SOHC]. Doesn't have VCT, that is the Zetec in the Escort ZX2 coupe.

But, I defer to experts if the Escort SPI is a simple drop in.

So does this mean the Escort will fit? I have 2003 Focus and can't find a used engine for it, but I have located one from an Escort. Both have the P at 5th and 8th position in the VIN.

Please, can someone tell me if this will fit?? Also, it would likely be wise to put new timing belt and water pump in the engine, I guess. Anything else?

And I forgot about this: does it matter if the engines came from cars with standard vs automatic trannys? Do they both have to be the same?
