Red face Engine ideas?

Hi everyone. New to the site. Figured I'd give it a try. I recently purchased a 2000 ZTS. Has 162k miles on it and was wondering what kind of options I had on doing a motor swap or where I can find a newly rebuilt engine. Just trying to get some insight. Don't know much about Focuses. Recently sold my '87 Mazda RX7 Turbo II because I did too much to it and couldn't afford it's tickets. Anyways, I just want something new with a little bit of balls to it. Doesn't need to be a V6, V8 or some super charged monster. Maybe something rebuilt with a nice street port. Any suggestions/opinions? Thanks

If it was an easy and/or cheap swap I would say go for it. but it's neither.

Moved to Engine and Transmission Swap. Ford Focus Technical Chat is for technical discussions relating to general maintenance, electrical issues, engine trouble, and recalls.

Really, you might want to check out Zetec Performance chat and see what options you have for the engine that's made to fit in your car. Unfortunately, Ford doesn't make engine swapping easy. Almost no transmissions bolt up to other engines- unlike GM products. To swap in a RWD, you'd have to do a major conversion. The best thing to do is turbo what you have, or seek out an SVT engine which will bolt up because it's based on the same block. You'd almost have to find one with a correct PCM to make all the extra goodies like the dual stage intake work.
