Going ahead with 2.0D to 2.3D

Hey All,

I've read a bunch of threads about the theory of putting a 2.3 Duratec into a 2.0 Duratec focus, but I want to know if anyone has actually done this. I've read a lot saying its possible, but I could really use the help from someone who has actually done this before. I will also be replacing my clutch and flywheel, and was wondering if there was a difference between the two. Also, I've gotta know how much cash I've gotta have ready to spend.

My 2.0 engine is on its last legs, which is the reason for the swap. I know it would be cheaper and more effective to just go turbo, but putting a turbo on my current engine would be asking for a blown engine. Any help would be appreciated!

Regards,
matmatician

That would be going from Duratec from Zetec, way more trouble than its worth, IMHO

The "engine & trans. swap" section is where you'll get the best information, we've got a dedicated area for such questions....

That said, the main issue these days with changing types of engines is swapping in the right controlling hardware & software - computer needs to come WITH the "new" engine, and the 2.3 is controlled with a throttle cable & the newer 2.0 engines are "fly by wire" so there are a few changes to be made....

Luck!

BTW the 2.3D is a GREAT engine, and Cosworth used it for formula Atlantic as a base engine, so there are some good pieces still available....

Has anyone done this? The 2.0L duratec swapped to the 2.3L duratec? Not the new ecoboost dura, not the 08+ mess, just a direct swap for an 05-07?
