I think there may be, there's plenty of info on the forum already about this. Long story short its mad expensive you'd practically need a Svt donor car and in the end its about the same ratios just one more extra time you have to shift. I may be wrong though

IIRC most of what I read seemed to indicate that the 5spd was better for street, and the 6spd was better for track, though I could be completely wrong too....

Yes, you can put a 6-speed in a non-SVT. You will need all the drive line parts, flywheel, clutch, axles, and a few other things. Also you'll have to do something about the speed sensor to make it work for your car. I think some just splice the wiring?

I also do know that the 6spd was a one off unit for the svt from getrag so if something breaks and need replacement parts...good luck. The 5spd dime a dozen. Something to think about if putting all the time to do the swap.

Incorrect. It was also used in the Mini Cooper S. Doesn't make a huge difference because parts are still scarce and expensive, but the transmission is not unique to the Focus SVT.

... stop it, man... who told you that?!
you don't need an SVT zetec, or an adapter; you WILL need a new shifter, cables, and associated trans parts (clutch/flywheel/fluid): this swap it TOTALLY possible, I've been running this setup for four years and counting. The close-ratio gearing of the SVTs MT285 Getrag trans adds a completely different feel to acceleration, too. It's been/still great!

... and what he said!

I didn't mess with the speed sensors though. *just remembered: McNew's reprogrammed the speedometer afterwards

^Ah yes! Programming forgot about that

I love the Getrag for normal driving. My mother in law as a Mini Cooper S that I take on occasion. I also own a SVT now too. It just provides a totally different experience. The 6 speed will eat the 5 speed alive on the highway, but the 5 speed eats the 6 speed up on take off and down low, but once you get going in the 6 speed the close gearing just keeps the car in the meat of the power band. Once past 85mph and in fourth that's all the 5 speed's got, the 6 speed still has 4th, 5th and 6th left to go.
