6.6l V8 Focus???!!!

Just bought a 400 big block with a c6 tranny and wonder hoe to make this work any suggestions. I don;t even think the chasis would be able to handle this much power coming off the engine. However out of all the big blocks this is the lightest and should fit just as well as the 351W and they make swap kits for that. What are everyones thoughts?

400 is not a " big block". It is a Cleavland. It is a truck motor for the most part. There are few if any perfomance parts. For the weight a Windsor is a better choice. Same power without the extra iron, and none of the oiling problems.

429/460 are the big blocks. 360/390/472/478 are FE blocks. 351c/351m/400 are Cleavlands. 260/289/302/351w/5.0/5.8 are "smallblock" Windsors.

To answer your question the Kugel kit might be used to bolt in the 400.

I was thinking that the Kugel swap kit might be able to do the same thing for the 400. Initially my intent was to pick up a 351W but have had no luck finding any around here or online and the 400 was an easy pick up, that i've heard no one has tried doing so I figure i'd see what peoples thoughts are on it. Thanks for the post.

The Cleavlands are strong engines but heavy and have oiling problems at higher rpms. The C6 weighs a ton but is indestructable.
I haven't seen a 351m/400 in 20yrs, but I think they use the same fwd mounts. The bellhousing is different from Windsors, so your stuck with the C6. The C6 may be long for the Kugel kit. Duraspark II distributors are available for the 351m/400 if it doesnt already have one.

It would handle it fine as long as you could fit the engine in there. Fords are nice because the distributor is at the front. I think Im the only one thats had an engine in the focus with a rear disty and that probably makes me stupid.

All I can say is start tearing it down, cut it up and start building.

The kugel kit is good if you just want to get it done and know it will work, otherwise its a fortune and if you spend some time building your frame its a ton cheaper. Even better when you can sell stuff from your car and make the whole thing pretty cheap.

The 400M is not a performance engine, but it share enough parts with the 351C that it can be.

Check this out - http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...d/viewall.html

IMO, while cool, it is more work than it is worth. It is easy enough to get 400 CID out of a 351W with any number of stroker kits. As mentioned, the oil and bellhousing bolt pattern are two big concerns, but the extra deck height will also mean it is a very wide engine. Remember, with a V8 increase in deck height is also increase engine width.
