Can you put a 2.3L into a '08 body.

Hey guy's, I've been trying to find out the answer for a while and I don't see why not? I searched on here but couldn't find anything, has anyone done it? Can it even be done? Is it a pretty straight forward bolt in, or is there a lot of modification? I would like to start there, if it is going to be too much work than I will go through with my original plan to put a turbo system on the 2.0L. Just trying to get some research done before I take on this project.

Thanks for your help and advice.

-Bruce

There are a few threads on the 2.3 swap if you do a search, but it seems none have gone thru with the swap. The turbo for sure would be a much larger power gain. Now the 2.3 and a turbo kit could be interesting.

That is what I would like to do. But to be honest, I don't want to get into this with time and money, and find out it won't work without a lot of modifications. Ya know? Not when I can just get the parts for the 2.0L. Although from the research without redoing the insides so I can push past 11 PSI I'm only going to be looking at around 220 HP max. And personally I would like to hit 300.

I think you would be better off just building the 2.0 you already have in the car. You would have to do internals on the 2.3 if you want that much power with a turbo kit. so i would just stick with the 2.0, but do whatever you think is best. It is you car and your money after all.

Its about a 30-40whp difference between a stock 2.0 and 2.3 running a fswerks stage 2 kit. But if ur gunna build a motor for boost why not a 2.3 right!

True, but one of them is limited. Lol
And I although I have my fair share of vehicle knowledge, most of it pertains to diesels and larger trucks/heavy equipment, so I'd rather listen to the experts here!

Interesting, I think that is what I will do then, thanks guy's.

I imagine I'll have plenty more questions before I start, and will of course post the project.

Thanks again,
-Bruce

To answer the OP's question, the 2.0 to 2.3 swap with turbo conversion can be done with our '08-'11 models. You might want to send a PM to 1turbofocus (Tom), as he has done the swap you're interested in. Professionally.

Do it in 2 parts: turbo now with max boost for D20 stock internals (11psi?), then swap in a built D23 & retune
