TDCI 1.6 Zetec Diesel ??

Is there anyone on this side of the pond running a diesel focus? Just playing with the thought of picking up a focus with a blown motor and trying this out.

So yaa can we even get our hands on a Ford TDCI without paying an arm and a leg for it.

Any comments or links will help, don't let me buy a VW.

I'm waiting for a diesel wagon, myself.

I've read the Facebook page for Ford, they're more interested in making excuses than selling diesels. The official line is 'We can't do it without adding $20K to the price to make emissions.' My wife (who's from Germany) reminded the moderators VW, Mercedes and BMW cannot keep diesel in stock - sold by the time they get unloaded. Then the excuse became 'We can't afford to shut down gas engine production to make diesels because they won't sell enough.'

Seems to me, they would have learned NOT to tell the public what they'll want.

This engine would be a perfect fit for the Focus.

i dont know who can import them but i have looked in to it. if you wanted to you could swap a 2.0 tdic out of a mondeo and its a match with the mounts and the transmission. so all you would need is the motor computer and wiring harness. i was looking in to doing this swap maybe next year. but i need to pick a car up first. as far as getting one imported i would they and email some company's that sell them and see if they would ship it. i have hound the 2.0 for around 800 euro witch is around 1000 us.

The last time I was in Germany (this past March) I looked at some cars. I have a relative by marriage who owns a garage there. It looks like the mounting points are too different to do a 'drop in' swap. Even some gas engines on some 2004 and earlier models are not anywhere near the same. One COULD bring a motor and transmission much easier in both shipping and import paperwork, than the whole car but you would still be in for a good bit of cutting and welding. About 11 years ago, I set out to find a wrecked (in the back) Escort wagon diesel in Germany for the same purpose. They look the same on the surface but the EU and NA models were so different mechanically the only practical way to have a diesel Escort here (and still keep the same VIN) would have been to replace the entire front clip.

According to some linked videos here - at least the one about the ST coming in 2012 - Ford is changing to a single market world wide design. 'It will be absolutely the same...exactly the same settings.' according to Jost Capito of Ford. BUT I do NOT know if the designs will be the same for non-ST models.

ZX3_2NV you live in toronto i see.I live just over an hour away. I am actually picking up not 1 but 2 diesel motors they are the Ford DLD 418 or the 1.8 TDCI motor. they are said to possibly bolt right up to the 5 speed trans. most people in Europe are averaging 50+ mpg I hope to pull the same. As far as I know there is not one Diesel focus that uses the Europe focus motor In Canada or the US. Oh did I mention I found these complete motors for 100 each
