Zetec ATM to Man swap.

Hey guys. I have a 2001 focus automatic that I would like to swap for a manual. I wanted to know if its a job worth undertaking, and the approximate cost if anyone knows. Thanks.

worth is. its run me $1600. but i put in a SPEC stage 3 clutch, Centreforce aluminum flywheel,CFM shifter, bunch of new parts. if you got everything used and a oem replacement clutch probably cost you under 1000 if your doing the work

Well cash isnt really a problem. Ive never done work of this magnitude before so it should be interesting. I also want to put in a turbo charger so that I think is the main reason for the swap. Some people say that I should just beef up the ATM tranny but where is the fun in that, lol.

never doing a transmission swap or clutch before. on my back using only floor jacks you could do it in a day or 2. took me 3 days but i only did maybe 4-5 hours of work a day. just when you install the trans have the differential pointing down or you wont clear the sub frame. and wedge the bottom of the engine towards the rad.

just read up first and get a shop manual. i'm pretty mechanically inclined and have done 3 years of automotive classes in high school. (it was run like a shop, people bring in a car this is what is wrong or its doing we find the problem then fix it.teacher was a ford master tech) and i'm currently in college for mechanical engineering: Automotive product design.

but if you have any questions just shoot them and ill help you out. if you need the wiring info pm me your e-mail and ill send the pdf to you.
