ATX to MTX Swap/Vertigate Shifter?

Just looking for some details on swapping an ATX Duratec to Standard transmission. I just need to know what I'm looking at ahead. I hear there are different transmissions from other cars compatible to my engine and even possibly just using an MTX out of another Focus from my year model will do the trick. Does anyone have any more depth on this? I was also wondering if maybe taking the route of something like a Vertigate shifter being installed on my Focus would be possible, like the ones they use on muscle cars and what not? I'm just totally unsure if anyone makes something similar to it for the Focus.

Your input is appreciated!

There's more moving parts to it than one might think, but this should give you an idea:
ATX to MTX Swap Guide

This write-up is more Ztec specific, but the concept is the same for Dtec.

I say stick with the MTX and get the Torsen Diff for it. Other than that they are pretty stout trannys.
