Question Rear engine rwd?

Ok, so i may be dumb or completly idiotic for even thinking about this..... But has any one tried it? One of my good friends owns a festiva, ive been stalkin on the festiva forums fornawhile now and seen a few swaps on there where they move the engine to the rear and use rear wheel drive. The shogun being the most popular one. But also been done with a 4g63. They use the whole front suspension out of the sho and build around it. They cut the floor out and build a "tube chassis" if u will in the back of the car, then build a "firewall" around it. I was thinking and wondering how hard something like this would be to do with a focus? I have a chance to buy an svt thats been wreched but has a good drive train from a guy in town. I've been congemplating something like this for along time. That or a svt zetec powered foxbody mustang, using the quads4 trans adapter to mate the svt zetec to a mustang t5? Witch do you guys think would work out better? And any one got any input ot thoughts? I realize both would be alot of work, and not easy or even really worthe it but i just kinda wanna do something different. Im newly registered to the forum but im not to the focus i have an st now and ive had two svt's and a few others in the past. Just always kinda just watched and looked threw threads and what not. Never really had any thing worth registering and posting about until now. Thanx for the input and help in advance guys!

I don't think doing it to a Focus would be much different than a Festiva. All custom cutting and fabrication.

Of course there's always the idiot who pipes in "with enough time and money anything is possible".

I guess I wouldn't really want the McPherson struts on the rear of the car. The rear suspension is probably the best part of the Focus.

As far as the Fox body mustang, the Duratec would be a better engine if you want a four cylinder. They will mate up to a later model Miata transmission.

Yea, im wait for that guy to chime in with the if u have money any thing can be done coment. The reason i was thinkin of using the front suspension in the rear is it would make figuring out the axles pretty easy and also if something breaks theres less custom parts makes broken stuff easier to fix.
