Tranmission stuck!???? Help.

So I'm getting on the freeway this afternoon, doing about 60mph shifting into 5th and nothing.... it won't go in. ?? I push the clutch in, try again and nothing... it won't move into the slot. ?? I push clutch in again, try to find 6th, nothing... back it out into neutral, now I find third, let clutch out, engine rev (I have now slowed down to about 40), switch lanes to pull over and once the car stops, with clutch in I can't do anything... can't get it out of 3rd gear... tow car home :(

So from what I have tried to search already it sounds like it could be something in the possible slave cylinder, throwout bearing ballpark?? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Car only has 42K miles on it, aftermarket clutch and flywheel. Master cylinder appeared to have been leaking at one point but then has since stopped.

I had this happen to me TWICE and when I took it in to the mechanic he told me the shift cables popped off under the battery. The cables are connected with plastic clips and seem to pop off easier. Apparently, Ford put out a maintenance notice, but wouldn't go so far as to put out a safety notice or recall.

I saw this topic somewhere else but I can't seem to find it now. The guy who had the problem secured his cables somehow. I'll dig around for it and try and post a link.

^^^ That would be great. I haven't had a chance to look under the car yet or really examine the engine bay so I will be checking today to see if I see any loose cables, as well as checking my brake fluid res.
