Help with engind disassembly

well i have an engine that is taken apart for the most part, but i have run into a dilema. the engine came to me with an atx attached and after taking the casing off i see a torque converter and a pressure plate. that is normal, what is not normal however is that i cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove them from the crank I see bolts to get the pressure plate off, but they are blocked by the converter which i cannot seem to get off.

the torque convertor has 3 or 4 i believe 4 bolts holding it to the flex plate. it is a 13 or 15 mm. you have to remove those and then you are free to take the flex off. there is a little hole that a ratchet with a deep well works good in. you have to turn the crank to line the nuts up with the hole.

haha the torque converter doesnt open. the nuts are on the back side of the converter, between the converter and block. the converter is bolted to your pressue plate so i guess technically the nuts are between the pressure plate and the block

From Haynes(sorry, no pic):
Quote:
Remove the cover(if equipped) from the base of the transaxle bellhousing, for access to the four large torque converter nuts. It will be necessary to turn the engine clockwise only (using a wrench or socket on the crankshaft pulley bolt) in order to bring each of the nuts into view. It may also prove necessary to jam the driveplate ring gear with a suitable tool, to prevent the engine from turning as the nuts are unscrewed. Before removing the last nut, paint an alignment mark between the converter stud and driveplate.
Usually the inspection cover is just a thin stamped steel piece. If you haven't gotten it apart by Friday, I'll take a pic of mine. Well, maybe I can tomorrow during nap time.

Turbo sockets are nice for getting out stripped studs.
