Info on 2.0 to 2.3 Dura Swap

Hey guys,

So exactly like the title states I want to buy a 2.3L Dura to build and then swap into my '05 with the 2.0L. Any advice on where to get the 2.3L motor? Also, does anyone have a link or information on completing the swap?

Thanks!

Best chances are to watch craiglist for a parted out 2.3 car. Or if you can find one at a junk yard. Just with the junk yard its hard to know if it is a good motor or not.

I believe the harnes is the same, and all you need is the ECU.

I think all you would need is the ECU an motor to do the swap + what ever is missing on the motor you bought, like the alternator, AC compressor, power steering pump, ext.

I'm going to check out the local salvage yards to see what they have available.

I appreciate the link but I do plan on building the motor for high boost. So I don't know if buying a completely brand new motor is the best idea since I will be taking some of it apart and putting performance parts in it.

Thanks for the input guys! That should help a bit. I'm just trying to find the best way to do this.

I believe the transmission is the same correct? Mine is the MTX-75.

Thanks. I thought they were but just wanted to check. So let me make sure I have eveything right. As long as I find a good motor and get the ECU I should have everything I need to complete the swap.

You dont need a new ECU. Your 2.0 ecu will work fine, it just has to be reprogrammed.

Also, you need a 2.3 passenger side motor mount and the dipstick will need some modifying or a 2.3 dipstick tube will be needed.

As in door keyless remotes? Or the actual starter keys? Cause if it's the remotes I don't have those now so I don't think that I would need them.

But if I'm replacing the motor entirely with the 2.3 wouldn't the dipstick tube already be there? But I will be sure to get the motor mount. Any good places to look?
