mtx75, IB5, or GETRAG? need help ID-ing

here is the issue...i bought my new zx3 and found out i have the ib5 manual and not the mtx75. has anyone swapped them out? what all is involved? could it be as simple as a bolt in .......please.........thanks any info is appreciated.

that means you have the SPI also and in that case your really SOL unless you wanna swap an engine tranny all the wiring and all that other junk... i have an SPI also i know it sucks....

i think someone has messed up royal with my vin and door jam...the vins match on both so i went to ford to run the vin and see what the build sheet says the trans is and the build sheet say i have a GETRAG 221 trans! which to my knowledge is a longitudal trans that went in some lincolns and the jag s-type? i am confussed. anyone have any pics of the mtx75 and ib5 trans? going by vin my car factory has the 16v zetec, i would know this engine blind folded. (had a zx2 for a few years) thanks

engine vin 3 is zetec yes

in a 2000, the mtx75 looks like this

that looks like mine. any numbers cast on the case? drain plug on bottom on the passenger side and fill plug in front?

well come to find out the dealership must have typed in the wrong vin, called another and the vin says mtx75,also alldata has the tr code decoded as an ib5 so looks like i will be shooting an email to them to update. thanks was getting worried.

also whats the biggest difference between the 2000 mtx and the newer mtx to make it easier to swap in the 4.06 final? thats one reason i wanted to make sure.

From what I remember the ib5 only came in the ZX2/escort never in the ZX3/Focus , anyone know diff.?

zx3 no but it came in LX/SE cars with the SPI

At some point they switched from a 2 piece to a 1 piece shaft making the 4.06 swap infinitely more difficult

the 2 piece and 1 piece 4.06 swaps are not interchangeable.
