i was thinking about swapping a svt 2.3 head on my 2.0 motor i was told with that head and matching intake i can gain some nice hp but im not sure wont i have to change ecu's or some crap like that this is my first focus and i really dont yet know how to get good numbers out of it i was wondering if anyone could help me out? Is this a good and or a recipe for ka-boom. and if so does anyone have any better ideas?

but the swap could still add power. if its stock i would start with some basics. intake, exhaust, throttle body, tune, maybe underdrive pulleys.

First things first,
Being the SE came with either the SPI 2.0 or the zetec DOHC 2.0 lets make sure you have the right engine first. (IIRC the wagon SE was zetec and the sedan was SPI, not positive though).

SPI 2.0:

zetec DOHC 2.0:

If you have the later (zetec) then yes you can swap the SVT head onto the engine. That info can be found here --> SVT cylinder head on a standard zetec block

If you have the SPI your best bet is to look through here --> http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=42 starting with the "read first" at the very top.

BTW... was there any difference between the SVT head and the regular Zetec head? I personally don't think so- or if so, it was minimal. The same could be done by taking your head to a shop to have it ported and larger valves installed, or save the money for cams. The main difference between the SVT engine and regular Zetec was the dual stage intake, cams, and high compression pistons.

I'm not sure what physical differences there might be between the Zetec and Duratec heads. I can go measure the width and length of my head, and then you can compare that to yours and the head your'e purchasing. A D23 head won't fit on a Zetec.

The SVT head will bolt on to the Zetec block , blocks are the same except the squirters as well as crank

Head SVT had slightly smaller combustion chamber , large cams , duel runner intake and VCT , to add all this to the ZX3 in my opinion wouldnt add any more power then taking the ZX3 head , surface it to about 10.2 add the SVT header and you would be about the power of the SVT

I know for a fact that 15HP alone on the SVT comes from the header , another 2 to 3 from the larger Exh and better flowing CAT , then about 8 to 12 from compression , cams , intake , head flow on the intake side

I dont feel its worth the trouble to add the SVT parts to the ZX3
