2000 ford focus se Tranny swap question

Okay This is my first post here so bear with me. I have a 2000 ford focus se sedan with a 2.0 split port spi sohc engine. I know it's a weak engine but I don't need the power.... I did not buy this car, it was given to me as a hand me down, and I've fallen in love with the car however this is one issue. It has an automatic transmission... I don't really want to buy a whole new car, but I really want a manual tranny. Does anyone know how much an operation like that would cost, I don't have a donor car...and I can't do it myself. I'm handy with tools but not THAT handy.. So what kind of price tag am I looking at? I know my car isn't work much, so if it's a lot...like i'm expecting it is... then I'm not going to bother with it. Only professional advice please. Thanks!

it is pricey. you will need the ecu(computer), the pedals, the clutch pedal position sensor, a new starter, the flywheel, a clutch and a tranny.i think the reverse sensor and the vehicle speed sensors are different between the auto and manual trannys too. atop of this you will need someone to perform all the work. it would be easiest to find a donor car but even then paying someone to do it will not be cheap.

I'm sure you'd be charged an easy $500 at least do do the swap.....

however, see what you can find as far as used transaxles and whatnot. I don't see why you'd need a new ecu (sorry I know it's been said, but I still don't see why.)

i could be wrong, i had a donor car for my swap. but i figured it would be different because of the neutral safety switch and the clutch pedal position sensor. it might throw a code because there are no shift solenoids in the manual. i am not 100% certain because like i said i had a donor car so i switched it all.

yeah.......I don't know if it's worth it honestly. It's just too much money to put into a car that's almost 10 years old now.
