Strip the exterior, swap the drivetrain, and then install the SVT exterior. Overall that's the best way to do it. In more detail, make sure you swap the ECU, wiring, steering rack, brakelines, etc... I think a good way to do it is just swap the entire front and rear subframes.

Don't forget the interior, too, if it's still good.

yes its imperative that you change the harness under the dash. without that you wont have the motor for the intake or the vct. i have personally done this swap. i found it easier to just swap the whole front cross memeber. i didnt do an interior swap but i went from a auto zx3 to a full svt motor and tranny swap. you will need the svt ignition cylinder and the transponder around the ignition ring unless you have the keys reprogrammed to the svt computer. but then you will have to do like i do and i have the old key for the doors and the svt key to start my car.

if i can help any more let me know.

on a scale of one to ten. what would you rate the difficulty at? 10 being the most difficult? can i completely gut my zx3 and start with suspension and brakes and shit first, also i will need to swap dashboards to right?

Moved to "Engine & Transmission Swap"
Take a look in this area...the swap has been done more than once.

its not so much hard as it is time consuming. everything bolts up exactly the same between the two cars. the dashes are exactly the same also so they wouldnt need to be changed, just the wires underneath it. it would probably be easier to gut the zx3 first because you have to pull wires up on the passenger side and either splice them or if you got lucky enough to have the whole car pull the wires that go all the way back to the fuel pump. it would be much easier that way. also with mine i just dropped the whole front cross member and switched them so i had the svt rack and pinion and svt front knuckles. alot less time and effort that way. suspension and brakes wouldnt be bad to leave for last as the other stuff is harder and the brakes and suspension can be done with the motor and tranny in

hope this helps,
Brandon
