Who has done an ATX to MTX on a duratec?

I need to ask some questions to people who have done it specifically in a duratec. Thanks.

^^^ Dude, even if you didn't explain it in deep detail you really helped me understand the wiring thing, for some reason I was thinking that I had to run wires all the way to the ecu LOL. Well, I just finished with the splicing and stuff, tomorrow I will solder everything and see if it works. Thanks a lot man.

After driving it for a few weeks I got the red one on top (short plunger) at a jyard so I could have cruise turn off with the clutch (had a few accidents at first...).

For the bottom one (long plunger) I just didnt hook it up. When you connect the gray and gray/red wires you basically get rid of the need for it.

If you really want a neutral safety switch (the bottom one) you can put it in series with the gray and gray/red. so it should go

gray----clutch switch----gray/red

the wires will have to be pretty long though lol (into the cab) and I dont know why the gray ones are so thick but you should use equally thick wires. The other option would be to use a relay.

Thanks for all the help. I just ended up not hooking the clutch switch, but now I have a bigger problem. First gear ok, second gear ok upt to certain rpm, when I go into third problems start. It isn't mechanical, but it feels like if I have misfires and the car looses power, I shift back into second and as long as I don't rev past 2.3K rpm the car does not misfires. Any ideas? It is important to mention though, that my speedometer is not working, neither the miles are moving up on the instrument cluster. I don't know how important the VSS is, but I don't think it is the one responsible of this misfires.

hmm... VSS not working at all probly just means its not wired right. If its hooked up really wrong, it could be causing some major issues like you say.

ok, I followed the instructions just as the wiring diagrams say, the only thing I did differently is that instead of running a wire to a ground (battery ground for example), I spliced the wire directly into the plug that I had previously cut, (the one coming from the auto harness), just as the guy who made the diagrams suggested that it might work.
