Replace SPI with 2.0 duratec, or SVT 2.0?

Which would you do and why?

I have access to donor cars with both drivetrains, and I have the knowledge and experience to do either one.

The car is an 00' wagon, SPI auto, power windows and locks, body is in real nice shape. I can probably pick it up for $600. Mainly looking for this to be a toy if anything.

Donor 1: 07 zx3 2.0 5 speed 11K miles

Donor 2: 03 SVT Milage currently unknown, believed to be under 100K.

Personally I'm going D23 or D20 with a D23 header. Just seems to be more parts, service and support for the Duratec, but it would be neat to see a SVTW, too.

if it's going to be a toy then go 2.3 duratec and then go turbo. You will have much more power than the svt and trust me that extra 6th gear is worthless.

okay he wasnt asking between the 2.3 dura and the 2.0 svt. this is between the svt and dura 2.0 not the 2.3. the svt makes way more power than the duratec. for that reason alone i would go with the svt. you said this is going to be a toy so that is probably what matters. also turbo and supercharger kits are more easy to come by for the svt all day than the dura. i think FS is the only place that makes kits for them right now and they arent cheap. i would say SVT swap all the way for most power and fun but i'd go for the duratec swap if you are going to put ALOT of miles on the car because of the low mileage on the donor car.
