converting my 2.0 to a 2.3

hey guys. i had a little bo-bo yesterday and seized up my engine. i figure since i have to put a new one in anyway i may as well go with a 2.3. (lemons into lemonade kinda thing). i know that it is a direct swap, but i was wondering if anyone knew for sure what all has to be done with the ECM for the swap. i do have an xcal2 so i would be able to reflash if that is a possibility.

help me please!! thanks -Jon

p.s. please dont "OMG PUT IN A V6 or V8". i dont have that kind of money and i dont want that many headaches right now. Thanks :-)

and oh.. if anyone was wondering, i bottomed out on some brick and punched a hole in my oil pan and didnt realize it. engine seized 3 blocks and 15-20 seconds from when it happined.

For the ECM part, I'd say ask that Tom guy in the tune section of the forum. Good luck on the swap!

Just call Tom at Focuspower. He's home right now from Mexico. Were all headed up for a meet this weekend so he can test his Square headers..... so I'm sure if you put in an order he'd be happy to whip you up one.

Probably run aroud 400-450 for the x-cal and custom tune.

andos.. i looked up your thread.. i already have a duratec (seized engine) i'm just upgrading from the d20 to d23, and i wasnt able to find my answer there, since i am going from duratec to duratec i'm still not sure about the tuning.

SPIman- thanks for letting me know tom was back, i wasnt aware of that.. i'll shoot him a phone call tomorrow. i have an xcal already, do you have any idea how much he charges for just a tune?

^^^ around 130 or so, depending on what you want on it. If I were you, I'd get an 87 tune and a 93 tune, just so you have both already. If you send it to him soon, he'll probably have it done in about a week.

He's been obsessing over these Square headers for a few years now, so I don't know if that will hinder his work speed for your tune, but I'm sure he'll get it done quick.
