svt motor swap...what head?

Ok so I have a 2000 zetec sedan. A friend of mine has a svt motor and I'm buying it.

So my question is: should I keep my zetec head and not have the vct/intake manifold issues or should I just swap the whole svt motor and get the vct delete and use my stock intake manifold?

If I go about swapping the whole svt motor what problems will I run into as far as wiring/fitment of my intake manifold?

swap

if im not mistaken the head is where you make your power on the svt and the header of course. there are ways to run the svt intake on a non svt motor. the problem is the wiring is different. the svt uses a different engine harness because of the vct and dual stage intake. i would think that using the stock zetec head and intake wouldnt require and modifications to the wiring. but at the same time i think you would lose the added power you are going for. you would however gain strength in the motor with the oil squirters and the forged rods.

the head is not the only thing that makes the power difference with the svt. it is a higher compression motor.

compression is the result of either a smaller combustion chamber ie. shaved head, or taller pistons. Find out if the pistons are what ups the compression or if its the head. I'd guess its the head. Just a guess though...

I believe the compression would be higher with using a zetec head and headgasket.

unless you have the ECU and PCM to go with the engine as well as everything else you need to make this swap then it probably wont be worth the money you are going to spend to buy it. the engine will bolt in and it will even bolt to the transmission in your car provided you have a manual trans. if you have an automatic then you will need to convert to car to a maunal in order to make the entire swap go as smoothly as possible as i havent read anything on anyone doing a SVT swap and mating it to an automatic successfully for any practical street application. it has been done on strictly track only cars that you would destroy the transmission if you drove them on the street but thats all i know of there.

if you decide not to do the complete engine swap you can use the head if you do alot of fabrication. not many people have successfully done that either but it can be and has been done. you SHOULD get the header, cat, flex pipe, oil dip stick tube, and power steering line from the SVT and slot the header to fit your standard zetec head and slot the flex pipe to fit zetec exhaust. this is the best header upgrade you can possibly do for a standard zetec as of now. as for the intake manifold you can bolt it to the zetec head as well and then get a MSD rpm window switch to control the DSIM. you will have to slot this to fit to the zetec head just like with the header, and you will also have to get a SVT intake.
