not sure whats up with your clutch, sorry. but some of the older transmissions had synchronizers go out which made them grind in third. i would look into it. BTW my clutch lets out at the top

It ain't a real crunchy grind its higher pitch. Almost like the band saw at a butcher shop going through bone. I do it every ride at least once. I haven't got my Hanes yet so no trouble shooting tree.

I'm not really sure but I have a similar problem. The 05's have a semi-defective clutch system. Ford issued a TSB (Technical service bulletin) on the clutch system but unfortunately no full on recall. You can read up on the details in the following places:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr.../tsbsearch.cfm
NHTSA Item Number : 10018945

Tany prob help plz!

There's a link in that thread to another similar problem. There's no way around some of the problems. and I would think that just buying a new trans would be possibly cheaper and more time friendly than rebuilding the whole thing. You can find a trans at Car-Part.com I see that there's a MTX in Tompkinsville, KY for $350.

Hope this helps.
