Quick Question: ECU in regards to motor swap

When swapping out a spi motor for a zetec motor you need a new ecu..correct?

Now does that ecu have to be car specific? Or can any ecu from the same model, year, tranny, engine, be used?

Yes, you need to switch ECU. It will need to be for the model, trans and engine, preferably the same year as the engine. You will also need your keys programmed to the new ECU.

Just has long has the the ecu is tranny specific so make sure you get one from a manual for a manual and one for an auto for an auto. Has for what year? I don't think it matters just has long has you program the PATS for it. It should work no problem.

If im reading this right I would need to swap the ECU's to put in an SVT tranny? I would like to switch from 5 speed to 6 speed when I get the turbo put on.
