1993 Escort GT with 2.0 Zetec?

I rolled my focus a little while back and I was thinking about getting this Escort GT with a blown motor. Its a really clean shell just no motor. Do you think it would be do-able? I know ANYTHING can be done with money. Is it really do-able though? I have my motor and tranny just sitting in a garage not doing anything. Escort weighs about 300lbs less and is a pretty good cruiser. Just looking for something different and since I can get the car for $500 it almost seems worth it.

the blocks are different, it wont bolt up

you would need a zx2 zetec motor in order to put it in

you could always try and trade yours for a zx2 motor maybe haha

Hmmm, so a Focus Zetec wouldn't bolt up, but a escort zetec would? Its just nice knowing I have the FULL wiring harness and everything off the car so I know I could make it work, but bolting it straight in would be way nicer.

oh im sure theres a way you could make it work. just have to fabricate the mounts for it.

that and you would have trouble with the factory cluster and shifter. yuo would have to mount the shifter somehow. escorts had shift linkages, not cables.

the escorts cluster is also mechanical (speedometer anyways) but maybe you could use a zx2 speed sensor.

i'd jsut get a set of full aftermarket gauges. since your already swapping mills may as well do full instruments as well.
btw wit ha plasma cutter and welder anything is possible.

I'd think it would fit. Again wiring will be the pain, try swapping over the focus gauge cluster as it was already pointed out mechanical in the escort. You'd definately have some work cut out for you in motor mounts, axles, etc.

ah I don't see why it wouldn't fit. Just buy mounts for a ZX2 and bolt them up to your zetec motor. The blocks are the same the only difference between the two zetecs is the VCT but that was only there for emissions reasons. If you have everything wiring and such I think you can do the swap with a little fab work.

Not to sound mean, but everyone did notice the OP wants to put this in a 93 Escort GT...not a ZX2. They didn't put the zetec in the Escort until 97.

KeepItKauai's post shows that its at least possible with the motor, don't know if the tranny will fit. Although I don't see that it wouldn't, looks like it has the room.
