Post Duratec HE in a C170 Foci possible?

I live in France and I want to swap my anemic 1.6 Zetec-S with a 2.0 Duratec HE and I have access to a Ford Mondeo which was totaled ( engine bay is good, was rear ended) what do I need to get the Swap working and I mean stock, A/C and Power steering...?

I have a Mazda3 engine too but since it has VTEC I don't know if it can be used on the Foci....

any thoughts??

The biggest thing you'll need is an ECU and wiring harness. That should be in the Mondeo, but.... the wiring harness may not fit correctly, and the ECU may not be compatible with other electronics in the car. Other than that, you'll need a passenger side motor mount from the US. I'm assuming you have a 5-speed. You'll need a new bell housing, and I don't know the the Mondeo has the same MTX-75 transmission as the Focus.

Also, the Mazda 3 doesn't have VTEC, its VCT. Similiar, but different. But that would need a Mazda ECU to operate.

I do believe that the HE bolts right up to the MTX-75...... but I'm an SPI guy, so don't go all by me.

The hardest thing even with a tranny swap is gonna be the electronics. I wanted to do a swap in my sedan with an SVT engine (which would have been beast), but even that would have taken forever.

My suggestion is, since you live in Europe, is to find a nice ST or an early SVT. You guys got the best stuff, and you should appreciate it!!!!!!!!

Okay folks I just came back from my farm and here are a few things that I have discovered with the HE after rebuilding it

1. same as USDM duratec 20 except compression and no cat
(I have been talking to a guy in Montreal who is a ford mechanic)
2. trannny bell housing is identical to foci and Mazda3.
3. only difference is ECU tuned for 95 octane gas ( standard gas here)

so therefore I would need the US engine mounts and clutch (Kit) the only problem as was mentioned earlier is electronics I wonder if there is a custom tuner there who can flash the ECU and load the mondeo's fuel and ignition mappings? if you know please give me their site.

and I would need the whole wiring from an USDM Duratec Focus.

Why I am doing this instead of getting a new Foci ?

because it holds sentimental value, first car I ever drove and owned it for 5 years.

I have this engine that i got off an escort cosworth that was totaled and i restored it myself and I wonder if it can fit a Foci.... if someone knows please tell me.. here is a picture ( damn I can't put a picture )

and can someone tell me what's the difference between VTEC and VCT always been puzzled by it
thanks guys

No, different bolt patterns. Same transmission, different bell housing.

VTEC has two different cam lobe profiles, and it switches between them from low RPM to high RPM
VCT rotates the camshaft to either advance or retard timing.
