Auto to Manual

I have been trying to find a definite answer and hopefully some small details about this but really havnt found much. I did discover in the sticky that the tranny from a zetec will fit the duratec but is slightly different.

My question is can I take a salvaged zetec focus and swap over the whole tranny assembly into my 2.3L Dura as a direct bolt on?

Someone has had to have done this I am assuming. Reason is I no onger want my car as an auto but I really do not want to get rid of it to start over on another 2.3L manual, or go on that search to friggin find one.

Also are there any tranny components that need to be swapped to make it work with teh added power/torque from the 2.3L or were theese trannies actually identical. Anyhelp would be appreciated guys!

BTW I know little to nothing about doing this swap just wondering if it could be done. I am going to be assisting (mostly handing tools and learning) my friend who is a tech at toyota doing this, he does it on his hondas left and right but wasnt sure about the focus for obvious reasons

This would be a good question to post in the engine/transmission swap forum.

Try a search. These threads are started so many times it's not funny. Short answer is that it can be done. Long answer is that if you can't do the work yourself it's not cost effective.

I posting in the OP that I have done research and there is no finite answer. If it can be done great, just wanted to know the details on doing this swap. I also stated in the OP that my friend adn I will be doing this. I just need to know if the zetec parts will definetly directly bolt onto the d23

ok as I suspected the bell housings are not interchangable, so will a 2.0 MTX tranny bolt onto the 2.3 with no problems?
