07 transmission replaced (automatic)

just before my focus hit 13,000 miles, the transmission had to be replaced. I didn't have to pay of course, because I have the warranty. Sure I ride my focus hard, but only because it's fun! Now, I don't want to ride gently, because, what's the fun in that? At the same time, I don't want to have to worry about continuously replacing my transmission. Is there anything I can do to beef up my transmisson, and continue to ride the way I do? is there (and if so, how could I get) a "sport transmission" I can obtain that will take all the abuse I have to dish out? or is there a more practical, cheaper solution involved that doesn't include riding "softly"?

-thanks for checking this out, whoever reads this. any help is much appreciated.

The automatic transmissions they put in our cars are an engineering tragedy.

But by the same token, if you were pushing it hard enough to kill it after 13,000 miles, then you either got a lemon or there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with your driving.

To help you get a better answer, why -exactly- did your first one go out?

Wow, that really sucks, I have an 07 automatic trans too, and i'm at 12,600 right now....is this like a wake up call for me or something hehe. I dont drive like a maniac, but I have an exhaust and half the time i'm accelerating more than I have to just to make noise, but I dont think that will affect it much, you must of been flooring it every time u saw green or something to trash it that fast hehe.

id say lemon too lol. my focus has 27000kms on it and i usually take off pretty good at every traffic light, not redline but around 3k rpm and its still fine. so unless you're redlining in every single gear lol...then it was a defect. im getting a lentech automatic tranny in a little while its got a LSD and is beefed up, im getting the middle one, good for 275whp the one above it is for 500+whp lol. but anyway im droppin some serious coin for it, not sure you want to go that route.

I wouldn't consider WOT take off an abuse. The design should take into consideration of maximum torque developed by the engine it's mated to.

Neutral drops, changing directions while in motion and throwing it into park while in motion are abuse.

With many newer cars, you can throw the shifter into 1st at 100mph and you won't hurt a thing since the PCM would not allow it to shift down until you're going slow enough to not exceed the redline after the shift-down you requested.

Of course you have an exhaust, anything with an engine does, did you think it was optional?
