from SOHC to DOHC

hello,

I bought a car with a SOHC engine that has a hole in the block. I am looking to put in another motor...don't really care which one but the DOHC seems to cost half as much at the JY and the added performance never hurts.

Can someone give me a quick rundown on what parts I need (with extimates prices) and how much effort is needed to do this? I have a automatic is that means anything.

I have to make a decision soon!

Thanks in advance.

dohc is more common, that is why it is less expensive

I might be wrong, but I think the ZETEC will bolt right up to everything in an SPI.

I think it is alot more complicated than that. I know 03_SPI_sedan was doing a conversion ATX SPI (sohc) to MTX Zetec (dohc) and never finished it because of all the little parts that were needed became too expensive. Search the forums with his user name and something like zetec swap or something, I'm sure you'll find something good.

Are you swapping a DOHC out or a SOHC? I am looking for the easy/cheapest way out.

So far,

SOHC= $650 long block
DOHC= $300 long block

Sorry, not up to speed on the zetec/duratec/svt lingo.
