What's the difference between Zetec and SVT Zetec?

So basically, the SVT Zetec is a highly built Zetec. How did they get the huge power gains out of the same volume little 2-litre motor?

It would be fun to do the same mods and make an "SVT Duratec."

Better flowing head, oil squiters in the block, forged rods, higher compression, more aggressive cams, different TB location w/larger TB, better flowing air intake, factory header, factory mandrel bent exhaust.... I may have forgot a couple of things.

man this question has been asked so much...

"huge power gains" are not that hard when you know what you're doing. My regular zetec is currently matching the svt's output. What did I do? (in order of importance)

#1 Raised compression.
#2 Bigger cams. The SVT cam is bigger than even Kent stage 3 cams, which is the biggest cam available to regular zetec guys.
#3 Higher octane fuel combined with advanced spark timing.

This one has less importance, but the shape of the combustion chamber is optimized on the SVT head.

The SVT head also flows better overall.

Some would agrue the VCT helps the svt's power... but I would say theyre wrong. Tom's VCT delete has been known to ADD power in some cases. However the VCT is nice in that it gets rid of EGR.

EDIT: oh ya, I forgot about intake and exhaust. Good for 5-8 whp over the standard stuff.

There is also the trim level. The EAP version has HID headlamps, Recarro seats, premium sound, 17" wheels and z rated tires.

All of the SVTs come with 17" wheels, but the EAPs are some of the nicest Focus' built.

...how is this a Swap thread? I'm not talking about swapping a motor at all, I have a Duratec. I just wonder what Ford's SVTeam did to the lil' ol' Zetec to turn it into the SVT motor and I figured some SVT owners would know.

I moved this thread to the "Swap" area, because I figured that's where all the experts are that know a lot about both engines.
While the SVT folks have a lot of knowledge about the SVT engine, they may or may not know much about the standard engine.

I suppose this would fit a little better in the Ford Focus and General Car Chat area,
since the OP also made the comment about modding the Duratec.
I was just trying to get as much educated input as was available.
