I hope you understand that this will be quite the undertaking. There is alot of things to consider.....

What I mean is that the "geometry" is a different between the Zetec and Duratec when talking about even how the motor sits in the car, mounting points. Then there is the whole "electrical" thing. You will need a complete & I mean a completely new wiring harness plus the ECU from the donor car. I believe there was someone over on FJ who attempted this, not sure if it was completed or not...

If it was me who was having problems with my Zetec/SPI, I would look more into the possibilty of an SVT motor swap, Alot less headaches, thats for sure. Plus the SVT motor is pretty nice motor in its own. I mean forged rods and pistons, can't think of better place to start when thinking about a serioud FI build up...... This all my own humble opinion....

Let's back up and dive a little deeper in this.
What kind of oil problems are you having? Has it been changed? Is it leaking? Is it using oil, smoking, ticking, knocking? Whats the engine doing that leads you to believe it's oil-related.

I have no experience changing out from SPI to Duratec so I cannot help you with that. The main difference I can see is that your ECM (Engine Control Module) is programmed for the air/fuel mixture for the SPI not the Duratec. And I bet it will have something to do with emissions control since PZEV engines (Duratec) use 2 catalytic converters. I will step away from that and let someone that knows these engines a little better than I do chime in.

Also the transmission's bellhousing is probably different assuming the spi and duratec sometimes use different transmissions.
What transmission do you have? Is it automatic or manual?

^^his "what i drive" says its a 5 speed.....
but i would have to guess that pretty much everything is going to have to be swapped out, engine swaps are a pretty big process.....best of luck

Dont forget wiring harness to. Junk yards love to cut up wires. So your best bet is to just buy the entire parts car before the salvage yard starts torchen and cutting parts up.

I think he was saying that they can be re-used on the current car???
IDK though. I would think it would all need to be changed.
Might just be better off going with another SPI.

no, everything I listed will be required from a donor car

but you could always ditch the ecu and harness and switch to a standalone fms while you're at it :-D pectel, microtech, aem, etc....

Since you didn't have a Duratec in your 2002 Focus, I'm moving this to the Engine Swap forum. Good luck!

Oh, I also changed your title to be more descriptive
