2.5 duratec V6 in a focus?

this is gunna sound stupid the way i'm gunna start this thread, but i remember playing one of the racing games on x-box a few years back. one of the mods that they had for the focus was an engine swap. they would put the 2.5 V6 in it.

i know that this motor was in the mercury cougar, but probably best known for the days that it was in the SVT contour.

how difficult of a swap do you think it would be to drop one of these motors into a focus and leave it FWD? do you think the mtx-75 would still be able to handle the extra power?

the reason i'm wondering is because i used to have a '95 contour se with the 2.5 in it, and the motor was awesome. there are a lot of upgrades you can do to the motor, if it is the SVT motor of course. i knew of a lot of people that would bore it out to a 3.0, and then turbo it, which would give them well above 300hp.

just something i've been kicking around for a while now. any input is welcome.

Talk to v8focus1 ( Ian ) he built 2 of them. There are picts from Carlisle 05-06 of the car. One was a 2.5 V6 dura swap. Very nice and works well. It was sold to another member here. The other swap was a SHO v6 swap, that one is extreme! Its do-able because the tranny is the same in both cars, so it will "bolt up"

yeah, it's quite possible, I was contemplating it as well.
Well, the cougar swap, because the tranny's the same and the engine will fit perfectly in the bay...I mean comeon, you can fit a Cobra engine in a focus...

Anywho, it wouldn't be too difficult...just expensive..I don't think the 3k for the engine without the harness isnt worth the extra 40 ponies...that's just my opinion...I would prefer to buy a turbo kit for the same price and add 95hp...

but's it's possible.
BTW, the SVT Contour engine is different than that of the Cougar....

SVT themselves have(Or had based on their recent departure) a 2.5 focus concept.

The 2.5 V6 motor in the cougar and the SVT contour ARE the same motor, but the SVT motor is slightly modified to put out more power. the motor in the regular contour and the cougar are exactly the same.

The SHO v6 using the vulcan bolt pattern not the standard duratec, ive been wondering if that sho v6 swap used the mtx4 or and adapter to use the focus transaxle.

so if you got a used svt contour engine and the harnesses and computer and everything it would be a direct bolt-in?

should be...although I don't know much about the SVT Contours engine...I know the Cougar is though...and it's stock 170hp....
the SVT contour would be a better swap producing 200hp stock...so yeah.
