Auto manual SWAP?

Does anyone know how hard it would be to swap a auto with a manual? And for that matter maybe even a SVT swap?

try the search on the forums, i've read stuff about this before...and though i don't know much about mechanical stuff...i do believe i've read a lot of people saying it's not really worth it to do the transmission alone, just for the heck of it. i may very well be wrong on that, that's why i said search around.

i do know for a fact though that there's at least a few folks on here who've done it. if you wanna do the svt swap though, common sense would suggest to just do it all at once, svt motor and tranny would make things easier.

Buy a new focus, sell the old one.

General concensus i seem to get from these threads.

IMO unless you can do all the work yourself, and can get the tranny cheap. Its just not worth it.

oooh yeah, if you've gotta fix stuff cause it's all jacked, then you would be better off just replacing the car. maybe part it out. whatever floats your boat.

Exclamation

Yeah, dude, if you have the money for a tranny swap. Save it. Get a better car.

Put it on a down payment. You'll be glad you did!

Do a search in Technical Chat if you'd like more. I think these threads are often there.

But yeah, many will say a trade is cheaper/easier in the long run than a tranny swap. Not to say it can't be done. And if you do find a donor tranny, you may be better off looking for a whole donor MTX car (with frame damage or whatever), because there's all those bits you'll need, beyond the transmission itself.

that sounds like the cheapest way I guess, but after some mishaps at the service department at Ford (they had my car for a month and lied to me and put me off) Im not going to buy another ford EVER. I might just get a 2.4L vtec new Accord with a manual. Which has about the same HP as the SVT. Im sorry Ford owners. Ford let me down.
